Ahead of the frigid temperatures expected in North Texas, Richardson staff are preparing to respond, according to a news release issued by the city.

Preparations include plans for standby crews ready to spread sand at intersections and bridges and across bridges, respond to water leaks and repair water main breaks.

Additionally, warming shelters will be set up at the following locations beginning Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.:
  • Richardson Police Department Administration Building, 200 N. Greenville Ave.
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 3, 500 W. Lookout Drive
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 6, 3591 Park Vista Road
Warming shelters are meant to provide temporary shelter and do not have beds or other amenities. Service animals are allowed, but pets are not.

Currently, there is no impact to trash and bulk collections; however, staff may announce delays or changes in operation hours. Service delays will be announced on the city’s website.
