With inclement weather predicted in the forecast this week, city of Richardson staff are preparing by staging equipment, according to the city’s website.

What you need to know

The city will operate three warming centers, all of which will open at 5 p.m. Jan. 6 and remain open until they are no longer needed, according to a Richardson news release.

The warming centers locations include:
  • Richardson Police Department Administration Building, 200 N. Greenville Ave., Richardson
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 3, 500 W. Lookout Drive, Richardson
  • Richardson Fire Department Station 6, 3591 Park Vista Road, Richardson
Services animals are allowed but pets will not be. Stations with chargers will be available to charge electronic devices.

What else?


Piles of sand to help de-ice roadways and provide traction are being stocked at various Richardson intersections. Additionally, bags of ice melt solution have been staged at several facilities to help make entrances safer.
