The city of Richardson can dispose of Christmas trees and boxes left over after the gift-giving celebrations.
What you need to know
Through Feb. 7, residents may dispose of their trees in two ways. They can drop trees off at the Municipal Service Center, located at 1260 Columbia Drive, which is available 24/7.
Residents can also set trees at their front curb and call 972-744-411 for a brush and bulky item collection on their designated collection day. Residents who call should request that the tree is collected for composting.
To be eligible for pickup, trees must be natural and unflocked, meaning any artificial snow has been removed. Additionally, all ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, nails and lights must be removed.
What else?
The city is also encouraging residents to recycle and prevent potential crime that can happen when empty boxes for high priced items are thrown away by offering several temporary recycling locations throughout Richardson, which will be open through Feb. 7. Boxes can be dropped off at the following locations.
- Custer Park, 700 W. Renner Road
- Richardson Recycle Center, 102 N. Cottonwood Drive
- Huffhines Park, 1500 Apollo Road
- Breckinridge Park, 5200 Park Vista Road
