The Richardson City Plan Commission voted to recommend approval for special use permits for Haraz Coffee House and 7 Brew Coffee at the Nov. 19 regular meeting. The commission also voted to extend the public hearings for the Lennox Innovation facility following a request from the applicant. Additionally, the extended the public hearing for Valencia Villas, a neighborhood with 38 townhome units.
The overview
The potential site for Haraz Coffee House, which is located at 508 Centennial Blvd., is on a .85 acre lot and a special use permit is required to allow restaurants with drive-through windows in areas zoned for office commercial use. The only modifications to the site are to add a menu board and speaker box to allow drive-through ordering, according to city documents.
Haraz Coffee House is a Yemeni coffee shop that serves coffee, tea, pastries and desserts. The commission approved the request 6-1.
The commission also approved a special use permit for a 7 Brew Coffee location at 1230 E. Belt Line Road.
Per city documents, the proposal is to construct a new building in which the coffee shop will operate. There will be no menu board or speaker box; instead, employees take orders with hand-held devices and direct traffic.
The shop will offer a variety of beverages including coffee, energy drinks, tea, smoothies and shakes. Service is provided only through the drive-through; there is no indoor seating or walk-up service. An outdoor seating area for employee use only will be provided on the west side of the building.
Looking ahead
The public hearing for the Lennox Innovation facility was extended to the Dec. 17 meeting, while the Valencia Villas public hearing was extended to the Dec. 4 meeting.
The special use permits for Haraz Coffee House and 7 Brew Coffee will be considered by Richardson City Council at an upcoming meeting.
