A survey of Richardson residents and businesses could influence the future of solid waste services in the city.

City staff are working to create a Solid Waste Master Plan that could support the community for around 20 years, according to a news release. City Manager Don Magner said the survey will help city officials understand the desired level of service and the costs associated with future service.

Current situation

Residential properties, which include single-family homes and multifamily residences, receive trash collection services twice weekly. Recycling and bulky item and brush collections are scheduled once weekly for residential properties, according to the city’s website.

Businesses that receive trash and recycling services from the city pay varying rates depending on the size of a dumpster and the frequency of collections, based on rate data published by the city.
