Although no action was taken, Richardson City Council received an update on the ongoing building maintenance projects ahead of the upcoming FY 2024-25 budget workshop.

Looking forward

There are eight projects planned for FY 2024-25, Corum said, including repairs to the fire apparatus door at Fire Station No. 5, replacing the roof at the municipal court building and repainting the apparatus bay at Fire Station No. 2.

Quote of note

“One of the challenges we’ve had this year with some of the projects is having unscheduled work that we have to do,” Corum said. “Last month during the storms, we saw a major lightning strike that struck the fire training center, knocking out the HVAC system for the entire facility, which also includes the backup data center for the city. That was a major project that we had to divert our resources to.”
