Ahead of the Independence Day holiday, Richardson facilities have announced special hours, according to a news release.

Because of the holiday, regular trash and recycling services, along with storm debris collections, will not take place July 4. Recycling collections scheduled for July 4 will shift to July 3 and regular waste and brush collections will resume July 5.

The overview

Per the posted holiday hours, Sherrill Park Golf Course will be open July 4. Several other facilities will be closed, including:
  • Richardson Animal Shelter
  • Temporary Richardson City Hall and annex
  • Gymnastics Center, which will remain closed July 5
  • Heights and Huffhines recreation centers
  • Richardson Public Library
  • Richardson Municipal Court
  • Richardson IQHQ
  • Richardson Service Center
  • Terrace Pool
According to the posted hours, other facilities are planned to be open July 4, including:
  • Canyon Creek, Cottonwood and Glenville pools from 1-5 p.m.
  • Charles W. Eisemann Center from 1-6 p.m.
  • Heights Family Aquatic Center from noon to 5 p.m.

Richardson’s Family 4th Celebration is set to begin at 6 p.m. July 4 in Breckinridge Park, which is located at 3555 Brand Road. The Richardson Community Band will play a patriotic concert starting at 8:15 p.m. ahead of fireworks, which are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.


A shuttle service to the park will be available from off-site parking locations at 3001 and 3101 President George Bush Turnpike, according to the city’s website.

The sale, storage and use of fireworks is prohibited within city limits.
