Check out eight upcoming and ongoing transportation projects around Prosper and Celina.

Upcoming projects
Preston Road and First Street left turn lanes
Project: Dual left turn lanes will be added on First Street at Preston Road.
Update: Design is nearly complete, and town staff are waiting for approval from the Texas Department of Transportation before starting construction this fall.
Teel Parkway widening
Project: Teel Parkway will be widened to a four-lane divided roadway from north of First Street to Freeman Way. Work will also include paving, drainage, signage, landscaping and a footbridge over Doe Branch Tributary.
Update: Right-of-way acquisition is complete, and design is underway.
Legacy Drive construction
Project: Legacy Drive will be expanded to four lanes from Carey Road to Punk Carter Parkway. Roundabouts will be added at the Carey Road and Punk Carter Parkway intersections, and improvements will be made at the intersection of Legacy Drive and FM 428.
Update: Celina City Council approved a design contract for the project in May.
Glendenning Parkway asphalt improvements
Project: Crews will improve the existing asphalt pavement on Glendenning Parkway between Preston Road and FM 428, including slope changes to create a smoother transition at the railroad crossing.
Update: Celina City Council will consider changes to the project in October based on resident feedback.
Ongoing projects
Sunset Boulevard asphalt improvements
Project: The existing asphalt pavement on Sunset Boulevard will be rehabilitated from Preston Road to Coit Road, and a sanitary sewer will be installed.
Update: Work is nearing completion, and construction is expected to wrap up in September.
Coit Road construction
Project: Crews are building four lanes of Coit Road from First Street to Prosper Trail. Work also includes curbs, gutters and underground drainage.
Update: Paving on the main southbound lanes wrapped up, and traffic was shifted to the new lanes in August.
Choate Parkway reconstruction
Project: Choate Parkway is being reconstructed as a two-lane divided roadway between Coit Road and Roseland Parkway. Crews are also improving drainage, signage and pavement markings.
Update: The project is divided into two phases. Work on Phase 1 is underway, and work on Phase 2 is expected to begin this fall.
First Street widening
Project: First Street is being expanded from two lanes to a four-lane divided roadway between Dallas North Tollway and Coleman Street. The project includes drainage, curbs and a water line.
Update: The water line has been installed, and utility relocations are underway. A temporary detour lane has been installed at the railroad crossing.
