The application window for the Community Inclusion and Engagement Commission as well as the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee opened Jan. 1. Both advisory committees were created by Richardson City Council at the Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 meetings, respectively.
The gist
The charge of the Community Inclusion and Engagement Commission is to engage the city’s diverse population and improve communication between city government and residents. Council can also instruct the commission to review city programs, projects or services.
The commission will be made up of nine council-appointed members, who will serve two-year terms and a maximum of four consecutive terms.
Individuals looking to serve on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will provide recommendations on city policies, projects, programs, and bicycle and pedestrian plans to help meet goals outlined in Richardson’s Active Transportation Plan. The seven-person committee will include five residents, one representative from the Richardson Police Department and one transportation professional.
Appointees will serve two-year terms with a maximum of four consecutive terms.

Both advisory groups are expected to begin meeting every two months starting in April.
