Individuals interested in providing input on the city of Richardson’s upcoming fiscal year 2023-24 budget will be able to do so later this month.

Two-minute impact

The budget includes several components, such as the general fund, water and sewer fund, and hotel and motel tax fund. A public hearing to give feedback on the proposed budget is scheduled during the Aug. 28 meeting at the temporary City Hall complex, which is located at 2360 Campbell Road.

City Manager Don Magner will file the proposed budget with the city secretary Aug. 11 and send it to City Council on Aug. 14 before scheduled adoption at the Aug. 28 council meeting. The proposed budget includes a 6% increase for all sworn emergency personnel and other city staff, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Several increases for funding were also included in the budget proposal, according to Magner.
  • $925,407 for neighborhood street rehabilitation
  • $116,101 in additional facility maintenance and park maintenance funds, respectively
  • $167,445 for more equipment replacement funding
Additional rate hikes for utilities were included in the most recent proposal from the July 24-25 budget workshop, but will not be finalized until Magner files the budget Aug. 11 with the city secretary.

More information on the proposed budget is available on the city’s dedicated webpage. Director of Communications Greg Sowell said the budget filing will take place at 5 p.m. Aug. 11.
