The city of Richardson announced May 24 that it is implementing a modified holiday schedule for its public facilities and trash collection May 30 because of the Memorial Day holiday.

City officials announced there will be no trash, recycling, or brush and bulky item pickup provided May 30. In order to make it up, normal recycling collection for Monday will be done May 31, and normal Tuesday collection will be provided June 1. No makeup days are planned to be scheduled for trash, or brush and bulky item pickup, according to city officials.

In addition, a number of city facilities will be closed on Memorial Day. These include the Richardson Animal Shelter, Richardson City Hall, Richardson Municipal Court, The Charles W. Eisemann Center, the Gymnastics Center, the Richardson Public Library, the Richardson Senior Center, and both the Huffhines and Heights Recreation Centers.

According to the city, Sherrill Park Golf Course is expected to be in operation under normal hours, while the tennis center will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Earlier this month, Richardson officials announced the summer schedule for the city’s neighborhood swimming pools. In addition to opening its four pools June 4, the Cottonwood and Glenville pools will be open May 28-30 for Memorial Day weekend.

The daily entrance fee for each of the pools is $2, with children age 3 and under getting in for free, according to city officials. Season passes to all four neighborhood pools are available for $30 per resident, or $100 per family. Nonresident neighborhood pool passes are also available for $40.
