Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Here is what Richardson residents should know leading up to the holiday.

Some city services on hiatus

Recycling, solid waste or brush and bulky item pickup service will be suspended Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. There will be no makeup days for trash collection or brush and bulky item service. Nov. 28 recycling service will be made up Wednesday, Nov. 27. Recycling service Nov. 29 will be made up Nov. 30, according to the city.

Animal Shelter: Closes at 5 p.m. Nov. 27. Closed Nov. 28-29.


City Hall/Civic Center, Municipal Court, Senior Center: Closed Nov. 28-29

Eisemann Center: Closed Nov. 28

Recreation centers: Closed Nov. 28. Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 27, 29.

Gymnastic center: Closed Nov. 27-29.


Library: Closes at 5 p.m. on Nov. 27. Closed Nov. 28-29.

Tennis center: Closed Nov. 28.

Sherrill Park Golf Course: Open.

Nov. 26 Thanksgiving luncheon at the Civic Center

Nov. 28 A Very Six Springs Thanksgiving

Those without family nearby or who are not leaving town for Thanksgiving are invited to gather at Six Springs Tavern for a Thanksgiving feast. Six Springs will provide the turkey, and guests are invited to bring a side dish. Attendees who play music are encouraged to bring their instrument. Nov. 28 Thanksgiving dinner buffet at Bawarchi Biryanis

Indian restaurant Bawarchi Biryanis will host a dinner buffet on Thanksgiving. The buffet will include a special Turkey biryani, appetizers, curry and dessert.
