The deadline to register is April 3. Voter registration applications can be brought to the county registrar’s office or mailed in.
What you need to know
To be eligible to vote, residents must:
- Be a United States citizen
- Be a resident of the county where you submit the application
- Be at least 17 years and 10 months old on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and you are 18 years of age on election day
- Have not been convicted of a felony; however, residents may be eligible to vote if they have completed their sentence, probation and parole
- Have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
Richardson voters will decide on the mayoral race and the City Council place 6 race. All other council members are running unopposed.
Mayoral candidates include incumbent Bob Dubey and challengers Alan C. North and Amir Omar. Place 6 incumbent Arefin Shamsul has been challenged by Lisa Kupfer.
Other elections include Richardson ISD and Plano ISD Board of Trustees.
Richardson ISD District 2 incumbent Vanessa Pacheco faces two challengers in Elaine Bonavita and Pamela Hughes.
In District 5, incumbent Rachel McGowen will face Christina Angelina Neria. District 4 Board Member Regina Harris is running unopposed.
Four places are up for election in Plano ISD—Place 1, Place 2, Place 3 and Place. However, three of those races are contested.
In Place 1, current board Member Lauren Tyra is seeking re-election and has no challenger. Sam Johnson and Xiomar Pierre filed to run for Place 2. Place 2 board member Angela Powell did not file for re-election.
Board President Nancy Humphrey, who serves in Place 3, will have a challenger in Harper Weaver.
In the Place 6 race, three candidates have filed—Elisa Klein, Andrew Rettke and Dash Weerasinghe. Current Place 6 board member Jeri Chambers did not file for re-election.

Collin County early voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22 through April 26 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 28 through April 29.
Dallas County hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22 through April 25. Hours will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25 and April 26; noon to 6 p.m. April 27 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 28 and April 29.
