Residents had the option of voting at one of two polling locations, depending on their county of residence: Dallas County residents could vote at the Richardson Civic Center, while Collin County residents could vote at the Richardson Office Complex. Both counties also allow voters to cast ballots at any countywide polling location during early voting and on Election Day.
The Civic Center saw an average of 1,579 in-person early ballots cast in person per day. Fewer people have voted at the office complex, which averaged about 368 voters per day. Dallas County has seen record-high turnout so far this election, partly due to the fact that early voting in Texas was extended by nearly a week. As of the last day of early voting, 799,437 residents had voted either in person or by mail, compared to the 549,643 people who early voted in the 2016 presidential election, according to data from the Texas secretary of state.
Of the 1.4 million registered voters in Dallas County, about 57% voted early, according to the state.
In Collin County, 448,806 residents cast ballots either by mail or in person during early voting, which represents roughly 69% of 648,670 registered voters, according to the state.
Statewide, roughly 9.7 million ballots were cast during early voting. Dallas County ranks No. 2 in terms of the most votes cast, and Collin County ranks No. 6. Harris County led the state with 1.4 million early votes. Collin County also has the state's second-highest turnout percentage among counties so far.
The nonprofit Vote America has released an online tool that tracks ballots as they arrive at election offices across Texas. This will allow voters to check whether their mail-in ballot has been received.
Nov. 3 is Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Voters who are still in line at 7 p.m. are able to vote. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 to be counted.
