Richardson ISD is relaunching its summer meal program starting June 6, offering free breakfast and lunch at 11 district campuses.

The program is run by RISD’s Child Nutrition department, which provides nutrition education and manages the district’s free and reduced meal programs.

"The availability of nutritious meals is critically important to children with food insecurities over the summer months," RISD Executive Director of Communications Tim Clark said. "With schools closed, many students don’t have regular access to breakfast and lunch, and the summer meals program helps fill that gap."

Summer meals are available to anyone age 18 and under, with no other qualifications required, according to Clark. All meals must be consumed on-site.

The summer meal program plans to provide weekly breakfast and lunch options Mondays-Fridays at Richardson High School until June 24. Breakfast will be served from 8-8:45 a.m. while lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The daily options include cereal and muffins for breakfast. Daily lunch options include sandwiches, stuffed breadsticks, chicken tenders and pizza.

In addition, Richardson West Junior High and nine elementary school campuses will be providing breakfast and lunch Mondays-Thursdays until June 24. Breakfast will be served at West Junior High from 7:30-8:15 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
