Local nonprofit Altrusa International of Richardson is offering scholarships to students living in Richardson or attending Richardson ISD.

The scholarships will be awarded based on students’ scholastic achievements, financial needs, extracurricular activities and community volunteer work. Applicants will also be required to write a short essay.

The scholarship, which can be used at any two- or four-year college or university, must be used for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. Five to ten scholarships will be awarded, according to the nonprofit.

Altrusa International is dedicated to making communities better through leadership, partnership and service, according to their website.

Applications can be found here and must be turned in by Feb. 21.
