The store originally opened under different ownership in 2017, co-owner Rachel Baugh said, adding that she was one of the store's first employees. Ownership changed and soon after, the store shut down and Rachel and her mother Kristine Baugh took over the business.
The backstory
Kristine and Rachel made some minor changes to the store's appearance to make it feel more like their own and reopened the store in February 2022.
“It was important to us to keep a vegan business open,” Kristine said, adding that she is vegan herself.
Additionally, Cinnaholic doesn’t use eggs or dairy products meaning there is no risk of cross-contamination. The store also offers gelatin-free marshmallows.
“We get a lot of people with food allergies specifically for that reason,” Rachel said. “There is a lack of places that have solely vegan items...and I see how important it is for people to maintain safe spaces like that.”
What’s special about it?
Kristine said she wanted to open the bakery to create memories for families similar to ones she had with her father when she was young. She said she grew up in a small town and can still smell the bakery she frequented with her dad.
“I just wanted to recreate that experience,” Kristine said. “That fond memory I have of my dad.”
Kristine said she makes coloring pages for children, adding that most of the time, adults end up coloring as well and then hang their coloring pages up in the restaurant.
What they offer
Cinnaholic offers hand-crafted, customizable cinnamon rolls, Kristine said, adding that everything on the menu is vegan and made in house daily.
For new customers, Kristine recommends the classic roll, which is a cinnamon roll with vanilla frosting. The most popular item, however, is the Texas pecan praline roll, which features a warm roll with cream cheese frosting, house made pecan praline, warm caramel and a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar.
The store also sells banana bread, brownies, cookies and seasonal items such as lemonberry coffee cake and pumpkin bread, all of which can be customized Kristine said.
Quote of note
“We’re trying to make Cinnaholic a staple of the community and a safe space for everyone,” Kristine said.
