Tetsuya Isogami, vice president of operation for Mon Restaurant Group, said izakaya translates to dine-in sake shop and is traditionally a place where customers can order drinks along with small dishes of food.
“Izakaya are casual places for after-work drinking, similar to a pub, a Spanish tapas bar or an American bar,” Isogami said in an email.
The Richardson location will offer an authentic Japanese cuisine and atmosphere, he added, with the same menu as the Irving restaurant. According to its website, Mr Max’s menu includes various sashimi options, appetizer samplers, oysters, noodles and more.
