Three of the people who died were in their 60s, while the rest were in their 70s.
So far, 6,602 people in Dallas County have contracted the virus, and 153 have died.
“Although we lost five of our residents today, halfway through the week we are seeing a lower number of deaths than we saw last week, which is a promising sign,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said.
