An additional 18 positive cases of the new coronavirus were reported May 7 by Collin County health officials.

The total number of cases for the county is now 857, with 264 active cases, according to the report.

Richardson residents account for 18 of the total cases, as shown on the county’s online dashboard.

The highest number of cases per ZIP code in Collin County is in McKinney ZIP code 75069, where there have been 59 cases as of May 7. It is followed by Plano ZIP code 75074, where there have been 53 cases, according to the dashboard.

Of those who have tested positive in the county, 569 have successfully recovered, 22 are hospitalized, and 242 remain in home isolation, the report stated.


Two deaths were also reported May 7. An 86-year-old McKinney woman and a 75-year-old Plano man, both with underlying health conditions, were the 23rd and 24th deaths of a person who had tested positive for COVID-19 in Collin County.

There have been 9,221 negative COVID-19 tests in Collin County, and there are 1,385 people being monitored for the virus as of May 7.
