Richardson's public library will open an hour earlier on most weekdays, following the approval of a resolution Jan. 28 by City Council. Library hours in Richardson have remained unchanged since 1985, according to Assistant City Manager Shanna Sims-Bradish. In planning for the latest update to the library's strategic master plan, patrons voiced a need for extended hours during the work week. It was determined by staff that hours could be amended to open at 9 a.m. instead of 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday with no additional cost to the city. Friday and Saturday hours of 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday hours of 2-6 p.m. will remain unchanged, Sims-Bradish said. The change will go into effect Monday, Feb. 11.
