Richardson’s Charles W. Eisemann Center will hold special events in advance of its upcoming 20th anniversary.

Eisemann Center Managing Director Bruce MacPherson announced the city-operated venue’s plans for the anniversary during a May 2 City Council meeting.

As part of the festivities, the Eisemann Center is partnering with The University of Texas at Dallas School of Arts, Technology and Emerging Communication to present “20 Years in 20 Minutes.” This special digital experience is designed to “encompass the impact the Eisemann Center has had on the cultural life and community of Richardson," MacPherson said.

“We’re bringing world-class experiences to your front door, highlighting our vibrant and local artistic community and empowering the artists of all ages and experience levels to engage with the emerging technologies that are transforming our world today,” according to a video presentation during the May 2 council meeting.

This event is in collaboration with the Eisemann Edge endowment fund. Created by Anna and Charles Eisemann, this fund was created in order to give an opportunity to blend traditional art with emerging technologies, MacPherson said. MotherBoard, a modular sculpture installation, was the first Eisemann Edge collaboration to be held in March 2020.

The Eisemann Center will hold a private reception unveiling “20 Years in 20 Minutes” from 6–9:30 p.m. Sept. 8, with shows expected to start every half hour. Additional public and private showings will be made available Sept. 9-30 under a select schedule.

A showing will cost $20. Proceeds will be placed into the Eisemann Edge Endowment Fund to help sustain future projects for the center.

A Richardson fan favorite will also return during the 20th anniversary, with The Midtown Men performing at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10. Consisting of four original members from the musical “Jersey Boys,” this vocal group has performed twice as an Eisemann Center Presents series act and is one of the most popular and successful acts, MacPherson said.

Tickets for the concert will go on sale May 20 and are expected to be priced from $51-$65. A post-concert reception will be held for Eisemann Center donors, sponsors, friends, membership supporters and city officials, according to MacPherson.
