Prosper officials are set to add 19 new Flock license plate cameras and additional materials to the town's public safety infrastructure following council approval.

At their Sept. 23 meeting, Prosper Town Council members approved an agreement with Flock Safety to purchase a variety of technology materials for Prosper’s police department.

What you need to know

Prosper’s police department first started using Flock cameras in 2023, and cameras have been installed at major shopping centers, intersections and thoroughfares throughout the town.

The new equipment will be used to help Prosper’s police department prevent and respond to vehicle-related crimes, such as catalytic converter and general theft incidents, according to town documents.

The $205,365.07 agreement includes:
  • $120,192.07 for 19 license plate readers and 12 solar video cameras
  • $85,173 for Flock’s NOVA open-source intelligence software
The new license plate readers and solar video cameras will be installed at Frontier Park, Lakewood Preserve Park and Raymond Community Park, according to town documents.

Additionally, the NOVA software will be used to quickly analyze police data and records, including information collected from the license plate readers and video cameras, according to town documents.

One more thing

Prosper officials received grant funding in July from the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA), which will fund 80% of the items, leaving the town responsible to pay just over $41,000, according to town documents.
