The business offers sporting and outdoors equipment such as tennis shoes, hunting gear, tents and more.
Academy is one of three major retailers opening on Preston Road this month.
The Home Depot opened on Aug. 20, and Costco Wholesale is set to open on Aug. 26, according to previous reporting.
