Celina officials will break ground on a new fire station Nov. 19. Fire Station No. 4 could open in 2026, according to city officials.

The details

The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 19, according to a news release from the city. When built, the station will help serve residents on the east side of Celina.

Crossland Construction will build the new station for about $11.4 million. Council approved a contract with Crossland for the construction of the facility at a meeting Oct. 14.

The company was already set to build the station, but council approved an amended contract in October because the price tag of the build increased from $9 million to $11.4 million. The increase in price came after added features were recommended by Celina Fire Chief Shawn White.

The specifics

The station will be about 15,725 square feet and sit on a 2-acre plot of land within the city’s emergency services campus. The emergency services campus is also home to the Celina Police Department Headquarters.

When completed, the fire station will include:
  • Three bays for fire trucks
  • A training tower
  • Individual dorms
Officials say Fire Station No. 4 could be a model station for future facilities in the city. This could help the city save on design costs, Assistant City Manager Kimberly Brawner said.

Fire Station No. 4 cost about $815,000 to design.
