The city of Plano announced Feb. 4 that facility closures and altered city services will continue into the weekend.

The city is providing live updates on its website and social media.

The Plano Public Works Department took around 200 calls about fallen trees and debris on Feb. 3, according to a city news release. Crews working overnight had seven trucks spreading sand on city streets and closed all but 20 of the requests for assistance with trees by 7 a.m. Feb. 4.

Crews also cleared a light pole that had fallen onto the roadway on Parker Road.

Officials have asked residents who see a downed tree limb to call the nonemergency line at 972-424-5678. If the tree is small and can be moved safely, the city has asked residents to move it so it is not blocking access for emergency services.


If anyone comes across a downed power line, city officials asked residents to stay away and call 911 immediately. More information on reporting power outages can be found on the city’s website.

City officials said trash and recycling collections are likely to resume Feb. 7, with collections scheduled for Feb. 3 shifting to Feb. 7 and all of next week's collection days moving forward one day.

The Plano Police Department reported three traffic collisions between 11 p.m. Feb. 3 and 3 a.m. Feb. 4, according to the release. Officers also assisted "a few motorists" during the overnight hours, the release states.


The National Weather Service forecasts below-freezing temperatures continuing through Feb. 5.

Plano Fire-Rescue has light response vehicles ready to help address water calls once the temperatures rise above freezing, according to the release. That is in addition to Plano's public works and utility billing crews, who will be able to assist with shutting off water as needed.

The Plano Public Library locations will remain closed on Feb. 4 and a decision about Feb. 5 is expected to be made before the end of the day, the release states. Library patrons are also able to access many resources online.

Due to the expected below-freezing temperatures and windchills forecast for Feb. 4, the city recreation centers and the Adrian Magallanes Day Labor Center will all be closed Feb. 4.


Also, the city's Community Electronics Recycling Event scheduled for Feb. 5 has been canceled, according to the release.
