Jodie Laubenberg took the Republican primary for the District 89 seat with 70.68 percent of the vote, or 14,124 votes. Republican challenger Dalton Lytle took 29.32 percent of the vote, or 5,860 votes. All results are unofficial until canvassed. Posted: 7:32 p.m., March 1 According to Republican primary early voting results, incumbent State Rep. Jodie Laubenberg is leading the Republican race for the District 89 seat with 71 percent of the vote, or 7,813 votes. Republican challenger Dalton Lytle has 28.65 percent of the vote, or 3,138 votes. All results are unofficial until canvassed. Laubenberg has served seven terms in the House and serves as the Chair of the House Committee on Elections and a member of the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence. She also served on the Public Health committee for more than 10 years and has also served on Financial Services and Natural Resources committees, authoring and passing legislation to help secure water resources for North Texas. Laubenberg is a sixth generation Texan, is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and worked in the computer industry. Lytle is a fourth generation Texan and has been a resident of Collin County for 10 years. The solutions architect and software implementation manager is also the music director at Providence Church of Texas in Plano. Dalton ran on a platform based on zero-based budgeting and constitutional spending limits, and opposed a state income tax.
