Plano has seen an increase in claims for vehicle damage due to potholes on Parker Road in January, according to a city representative.

Here’s how drivers can submit a claim.

What you need to know

Drivers who experienced personal injuries or property damage due to a pothole on Parker Road can submit a public claim form via mail, fax or email. The form can be found on the city’s website.

A form must be submitted within 6 months of the incident, and then the claim will be considered. Drivers who submit claims could be reimbursed for damage by the construction contractor.

The background

From July 2023 to Jan. 25, 2024, Plano’s Risk Management department has received 86 claims for damage caused by potholes on Parker Road—which is undergoing construction to replace asphalt and water lines—and 68 of those claims came in January alone.

A city representative said that increase was due to a combination of work on the water lines and increased awareness of the city’s claim program.
