Additional funding for the Hedgcoxe Road project in Plano was approved because of further deterioration of the road's condition.

Plano City Council approved a design contract amendment to add $737,929 to the project’s scope during the Nov. 27 meeting. The additional funds take the total contract to over $4 million and should allow for further reconstruction along Hedgcoxe Road between Legacy Drive and Custer Road.

The overview

According to city documents, the original design for the reconstruction of Hedgcoxe Road occurred in October 2021 with further deterioration taking place between the design and the completion of construction. The additional funding will allow for the remaining reconstruction to take place.

The funding amendment also includes the cost for materials used to rebuild the road in addition to other construction costs. Per city documents, staff analyzed the new material prices to ensure the city was still receiving good value for the expenditure.
