Plano City Council approved a no-parking zone next to Preston Meadow Park during its Nov. 28 meeting.

Due to concerns about emergency vehicle access during peak park usage, council passed an ordinance to establish a no-parking zone on the north side of Emerson Drive from Preston Meadow Drive to Virginia Drive.

The city’s engineering department has also begun work on a project to widen the street, according to the agenda item.

The ordinance passed by a 6-2 vote with Mayor Pro Tem Kayci Prince and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Maria Tu voting in opposition. Prince expressed concerns that there would not be enough parking if the no-parking zone was established.
