Summer is here, and there's no shortage of events to take friends or family to in Plano. Here's what's going on this weekend.

1. The Brixton's grand opening


As part of its grand opening, The Brixton will be hosting two live performances starting at 9 p.m. and ending at 2 a.m. on Friday at 5865 Kincaid Road, Ste. E8. The first group is the Dallas-based band Awesome Sauce. The latter half of the evening will be led by DJ Sirius starting at midnight. The Brixton will also be serving dinner with their full menu, which became available last week.

2. 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' screening


Movies in the Park is kicking off its first screening of the summer with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Haggard Park, 901 E 15th St. Attendees and their dogs can also participate in a Star Wars-themed costume contest, as well as Jedi training hosted by Roser Martial Arts Center before the screening. Hot Potato food truck, Kona Ice SnoCones and Crave Popcorn Co. and Angela's at the Crosswalk will also be at Haggard Park selling refreshments. Event organizers will send out a notice about cancellation due to rain by 10 a.m. tomorrow. The next screening will be feature Moana on July 29. The event is free to the public.

3. Fifth Holistic Festival of Life


Mystic Mandala’s fifth Holistic Festival of Life will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the newly renovated Plano Event Center, 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway. The festival will hold live music performances and yoga sessions. Attendees can also purchase handmade crafts and services from a list of over 120 vendors. The Festival of Life takes place on the last weekend of June and the first weekend of December. The festival is free to the public.
