Caddo Park is one step closer to starting renovations after the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve the proposed project.

The commission voted 7-0 in favor of improvements to the city-owned park at its Jan. 18 meeting.

The park is located at 2701 Round Rock Trail just north of Davis Elementary School. The proposal still needs final approval from City Council.

According to city planning documents, proposed renovations to the park will include a new looped trail with lighting, a new and larger playground, fitness stations, a disc golf basket, an additional pavilion and seating areas, upgrades to the current pavilion, landscape work and a new irrigation system.

City officials said the new playground will be raised to ensure it is above the floodplain of the creek that runs through the park. A cost estimate for the project has not yet been released.

According to the parks master plan, construction could begin by this summer. More information can be found on the city’s website.
