The city of Plano will begin open registration this month for its summer recreation department activities, which have been modified to protect participants from the new coronavirus.

Plano residents will be able to register for Plano Parks & Recreation activities beginning May 16, with registration for nonresidents beginning May 18.

The city is promoting its online registration tool for these signups, since recreation centers remain closed throughout the city. People can also sign up by calling any Plano recreation center, but wait times may be longer for those who go this route, the city said.

The city has canceled a number of summer camps and modified dates for other programs. A full list of summer classes will be available in the city's recreation catalog.

Registration dates and other details may change as the city monitors information on the coronavirus.
