AFFECT Inc. worked together Dec. 16 to help Plano-area families by delivering a truckload of food and other essentials items to 400 families.

The donations, which were funded by an anonymous donor, were distributed at AFFECT's office at 1026 F Ave., Plano.
Feed the Children, one of the largest U.S.-based charities, said it proud to partner with AFFECT Inc. in providing each family with a 25-pound food box; a 10-pound box of basic essentials, such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion and personal-care items; a box of assorted Avon products; and holiday hams.
The event also featured the help of other various community organizations, which provided complimentary services and products, including smoke detector checks from the local fire department, a free health clinic for elders and children, resources from Habitat for Humanity, and women’s health clinics.
The event is one of many Feed the Children has planned across the country. In Plano, more than 7 percent of families live below the poverty line. Often, these children and families are unsure where they will find their next meal, said Travis Arnold, interim CEO, president and COO of Feed the Children.
“Today, we are not only providing food and necessities to families—but also hope,” he said in a news release. “Hope for a better future that was made possible thanks to an anonymous donor and AFFECT Inc.”
