Willie Meshack’s BBQ is now open in Plano. The family-run restaurant soft-opened its new location in February at 200 Coit Road, Ste. 112, near Central Market. According to ownership, a grand opening event will be held sometime this spring.
The company is owned and operated by Willie Meshack Jr.; his wife, Roberta Plaza; and her mother, Yolande Plaza. Roberta said she and her husband decided to open the new restaurant in Plano after moving to the city last year. She said Plano was the ideal place to start their new business.
“Everything is really close, and it's a newer, modern [location],” Roberta said. “Plano [businesses] kind of feed off each other. Everything is nice up here.”
Roberta said that the concept behind the restaurant was to balance traditional, smoke-style, craft Texas barbecue with Trinidadian-style side dishes made by her and her mother. Roberta’s family also owns the Caribbean Cabana, a restaurant based out of the Dallas Farmers Market.
