"We didn't want to be a traditional bar ... but then we didn't want to create just a standard full-service restaurant," she said. "So, we thought that daiquiris [were] a nice sweet spot."
Not only is Daq's located along the corridor in North Plano where the city meets Frisco, Allen and McKinney, but it is also where fancy meets casual and dining and drinks find a common ground, Dominique said. The space was designed to be a place where people feel comfortable dressing up without being too stuffy, she said.
Daq's soft opened to the public Jan. 15 and is slowly rolling out its full menu, with additional drinks, flatbreads and street tacos becoming available each week. The Bellagio—Daq's take on a White Russian—and the Bora Bora—a pineapple, passion fruit and piña colada drink—have been the most popular menu items so far, Dominique said. Other items she expects to be popular include the Spicy BBQ Chicken flatbread and the veggie street tacos. The entire menu will be available in time for Daqs' grand opening Feb. 23, she added.
The restaurant has already received recognition for its drive-thru drinks and food, Dominique said, but the Jones' are most excited for people to dine in and have a good time. This may take a while as people are still hesitant to dine indoors, she said, but Daq's aims to be a safe place to socialize.
"We're really trying to create this family atmosphere," she said. "We really want people to come in and have a safe, good time."
Daq's is currently serving daiquiris and food through its drive-thru and in-person at 8700 Preston Road, Plano. Daq's delivery will also soon be available through Uber Eats and DoorDash. 469-200-5881. www.daqsallfolks.com/
