The City of Plano has allocated funds for an extension to Chisholm Trail.

What’s happening?

Chisholm Trail, which currently stretches 5.5 miles from Legacy Drive to 15th Street, is set to be extended into the upcoming Collin Creek Mall redevelopment.

The redevelopment will include 1.6 miles of trails, and the new extension will connect the current end of the trail to the new trail system within Collin Creek. The extension will be 12 feet wide and stretch approximately one-quarter mile, according to a news release from the city.

As part of the Collin County 2018 Parks and Open Space Bond, the county will provide $267,000 for the project. The trail extension is expected to cost $1.1 million, according to a news release from the city.

What else?

A separate section of Chisholm Trail is set for concrete repairs. A small stretch of the trail just west of Big Lake will be closed starting Feb. 28, with plans to reopen on March 1, weather permitting.
