The Salvation Army has partnered with the overnight warming station at the East Plano Islamic Center, located at 4700 14th St., according to Grace Lewis, a spokesperson for The Salvation Army of North Texas. She added that meals are being prepared in the kitchen of the Salvation Army Plano Corps, and transportation to the warming center is also offered for individuals seeking assistance at the Plano facility.
Per a city news release, bus pickup for the Islamic Center warming station is available at the Parker Road Station and Harrington Library between 6-8:30 p.m. No individuals will be allowed into the warming station after 10 p.m.
Additional Plano facilities are also closed Jan. 15, along with other planned facility closures because of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, per a city news release. City facilities, with the exception of recreation centers and libraries will open for normal hours Jan. 16, according to a news release.
Recreation centers and libraries will open at 10 a.m. Jan. 16. City staff with the Plano Public Works Department will reduce water pumping in the morning hours of Jan. 16 while keeping it within necessary limits for health and safety, the news release said.
