Collin College held a signing ceremony for the launch of its new automotive technician training program Aug. 25.

The details

The college partnered with Toyota to offer the Toyota Technician Education Network, or T-TEN, program.

The program is meant to serve as a fast track for students looking to serve as technicians in Toyota or Lexus dealerships by providing training on the latest technology in Toyota vehicles.

“This partnership is a huge win for Toyota, Collin College and all of North Texas,” said Holly Dieterle, Toyota general manager of quality division.

Collin College’s first T-TEN cohort started classes during the fall semester and is available at the school’s technical campus in Allen.

The background

The T-TEN program represents an expansion of the partnership between Toyota and Collin College.

The school already offered Toyota’s Technician Education College Support Elite, or TECS, program, and other programs through partnerships with Honda, Mercedes and Ford. The T-TEN program provides more opportunities and resources for students, including pairing students with dealerships for employment.

Only 38 schools across the country currently offer the T-TEN program, according to a news release from Collin College.

Quote of note

“This program gives students an opportunity to receive exceptional training in a high-demand field,” Collin College District President Neil Matkin said. “Students will gain mentoring and internship opportunities to better prepare them in their careers as Toyota and Lexus certified technicians.”
