Plano ISD told parents this week it does not plan to extend the school year regardless of how long ongoing school closures last.

Schools are closed through at least May 1 in an effort to slow the spread of the new coronavirus. Instruction will still end on the scheduled date of May 22, the district informed parents this week in a mass message.

Meanwhile, the district said grading guidelines will be disclosed soon as it prepares to move to its next phase of e-learning April 6.

For elementary school students, the district will introduce new literacy tools that it will pair with continued assignments designed by PISD teachers.

Students at the district’s middle schools, high schools and senior high schools will see more districtwide virtual content in addition to the existing teacher-designed material.
