Plano ISD has canceled its after-school and evening activities April 17 because of severe weather forecasts.
The school district announced the decision Wednesday afternoon after consulting with the National Weather Service, PISD spokesperson Lesley Range-Stanton said in a statement.
The cancelations will not affect the district's after-school child care programs for prekindergarten students through fifth graders. These programs will continue according to the normal schedule.
The National Weather Service said during the late afternoon and evening, the North Texas area could be at risk of severe storms bringing large hail, high-speed winds and possibly tornadoes.
