A five-story, mixed-use apartment building under construction near some of the most prominent restaurants and stores in downtown Plano is now expected to open next summer, according to the developer. Southern Land Company, the developer behind the Junction 15 apartments in downtown Plano, plans to offer 183 multifamily units, as well as 12,700 square feet to be outfitted with restaurants and retail storefronts, according to a company news release. The two-building development, titled Morada Plano, will offer one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 545 to 1,297 square feet. The units will come with stainless-steel appliances, washers and dryers. “Morada Plano is the second high-quality apartment community that Southern Land has developed in the heart of historic downtown Plano,” Southern Land Company CEO Tim Downey said in the release. “The preservation of the history of downtown Plano is what continues to draw us to the area. Residents will experience walkable, urban living and high-end amenities in a charming neighborhood with a vintage feel.” Located at 1009 14th St., future residents will be within walking distance from Morada Plano to the 15th Street Dallas Area Rapid Transit station, which provides light rail service through Richardson to downtown Dallas. Southern Land Company expects to commence pre-leasing by spring 2018, according to the release.
