Twenty-two percent of students and staff were required to stay home after coming into close contact with someone who had the virus, according to a Nov. 13 letter to parents from the school. The school, which is located on Jackson Drive southeast of Coit Road and West 15th Street, will be closed to the public during this time. The decision was made with guidance from the Collin County Health Services Department.
The district's dashboard lists six students and two staff with active coronavirus cases at the elementary school as of 8:43 a.m. Nov. 16. Students and staff at Jackson Elementary have been asked to monitor their symptoms. If someone tests positive for the virus, they should email the elementary school’s principal at [email protected].
The school will reopen for in-person instruction Nov. 30, following the student holidays and Thanksgiving break.
No other schools in the district are affected.
Students will still be able to pick up breakfast and lunch for the week at the school on Nov. 16 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. If families are unable to pick up meals during this time, they can pick up at any of the other meal pickup locations. Times and locations can be found here.
