An additional 24 positive cases of the new coronavirus were reported May 5 by Collin County health officials, including 8 cases in Plano.

The county has 257 active cases of the virus—with 77 active cases in Plano—and has reported 828 total positive cases.

Plano residents make up 238 cases of the total count, as shown on the county’s online dashboard May 5. Including four previously reported cases in Denton County, the total number of positive cases of coronavirus in Plano is 242, according to a city report May 6.

As of May 5, 549 of the county’s total cases have recovered, and 24 are hospitalized. In Plano, 162 cases have recovered and 15 are hospitalized, the city report states.

There have been 8,505 negative COVID-19 tests in Collin County, and there are 1,305 people being monitored for the virus as of May 5.


Collin County has had 22 deaths of people who had tested positive for coronavirus.
