The Shops at Willow Bend plans to construct a one-story, 60,000-square-foot addition for an indoor children’s amusement facility.
The Plano Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday approved easements and a site plan to facilitate construction of the Crayola Experience building, which would be the art supply company’s fourth such kids-themed concept in the U.S.
"Crayola is working with Willow Bend on a very special project,” Crayola spokeswoman Kelly-Anne Suarez said Monday in a statement. “We can't wait to reveal all the details at our announcement tomorrow!”
The company operates three other Crayola Experience locations in Orlando, Florida; Easton, Pennsylvania; and Minneapolis. The locations host birthday parties, group outings, field trips and special events, according to
a company website.
Other locations offer kids the opportunity to star in their own coloring page, name and wrap their own crayons and participate in a “4-D coloring adventure,” the website says.
Hotel, apartments on the way
Plano Planning and Zoning Commission on Monday also approved easements for a proposed hotel project at the Legacy West Urban Village.
The hotel property, owned by the Sam Moon Group, would be located at the northeast corner of Legacy Drive and Communications Parkway.
The commission also agreed to modify easements to accommodate the completion of a 460-unit, high-rise apartment community on Plano Parkway west of Preston Road.
