In one of the rare weeks in which no major Plano public meetings are planned, here's what residents need to know to start the week.
Ohio Drive lane closures
Northbound traffic on the southernmost stretch of Ohio Drive began to merge to a single lane Monday as a pavement-repair project prompted lane closures between Mapleshade Lane and Park Boulevard, a city spokesman said.
The Ohio Drive project, which currently affects the traffic passing just east of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Plano, is expected to eventually extend to the city's northern border at SH 121 before looping back to repair the southbound lanes, according to a city statement.
The pavement repairs will be completed in segments. This stretch of road will remain under construction for up to two weeks, city spokesman Steve Stoler said.
Grants for schoolteachers
Education advocates gathered this weekend at the Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center to raise grant money for classrooms, schools or programs in Plano ISD.
The Plano ISD Education Foundation hosted the Ski Plano event on Saturday to support the Grants for Educators program, in which schoolteachers apply for grants to fund classroom- or school program-related expenses.
The foundation has not yet released a fundraising total from Saturday's event. This post will be updated if it does.
Public meetings schedule
Plano City Council members and school board officials have a relatively quiet week ahead, as no public meetings are scheduled.
The PISD board of trustees plans to hold its next regular meeting Feb. 7. Plano City Council, which usually meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, is next scheduled to convene Feb. 13.
