Sally Bane, the city of Plano’s executive director of economic development, was named one of the Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business honorees on July 8. The awards recognize North Texas’ most influential business women who have made a difference in their workplace, blazing trails for other women and leaving a mark on their communities.

Judges selected 24 honorees from 299 submissions. As the head of Plano’s economic development team, Bane was honored for her decades of experience in the economic development profession. In the last ten years, Bane and her team have been involved in more than 117 relocation and expansion projects resulting in $2 billion in tax base improvements, according to the city of Plano.

Plano Economic Development was formed in 2005 and has also helped bring more than 33,000 jobs to the region associated with companies, such as Toyota Motor North America, FedEx Office & Print Services, Liberty Mutual Insurance, JPMorgan Chase, Capital One, Cigna, Ericsson, USAA, Tektronix, and Pizza Hut U.S./Pizza Hut and KFC Global.

The Women in Business Awards will be held Aug. 22 at the Irving Convention Center.
