2. Tuesday is Election Day
On Election Day, Community Impact Newspaper will transform our homepage into an election headquarters. We will be adding a variety of new features that will help you understand what’s happening with local races. And we'll be posting stories throughout the night as the results come in. 3. Veterans Day events at Collin College
In honor of Veterans Day Friday, Collin College will host several weeklong opportunities for local residents to express their appreciation for service men and women. The following events will be held at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano; at Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd., Frisco; and at the Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Drive, McKinney:
- The Blue Star Mother’s Drive is collecting backpacks and full-size toiletries for active duty service men and women at the three campuses
- Collin College students, faculty and staff will be making a photo collage with submissions by local residents. Photos can be dropped off at all three locations.
- Write a letter to service men and women serving overseas. Stationery, stamps and mailing services are provided by the college. Dates times and locations are:

Building Performance Workshops has partnered with Plano ISD and the city of Plano’s Sustainability and Environmental Education Department to hold open house tours of its high-performance tiny house on wheels from 5-6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Plano ISD Academy High School, 1701 Alma Drive, Plano. 5. Digital town hall

6. Art & Wine Walk
The Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk returns Nov. 10 for its monthly sip-and-shop event from 5-8 p.m. in the Downtown Plano Cultural District. Participants can sample selected wines at their favorite shops while enjoying live music and curated art exhibitions in nearby McCall Plaza. This month’s theme is “alma mater,” so break out the college swag and pride. Tickets purchased online are $10 or can be bought at the door for $15. Each ticket includes a one-ounce wine sample at 20 locations throughout the downtown Plano arts district. www.visitdowntownplano.com
7. Veterans Symposium
The Veterans Center of North Texas will host this informational event Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 1932 K Ave., Plano. Veterans can speak face-to-face with representatives from local organizations, such as Hire Heroes USA, Plano Community Homes, the Texas Veterans Commission and the Veterans Service Office of Collin County. 8. City House Charity Bowl
Plano Super Bowl will host a fundraiser Friday for City House, a Plano-based emergency shelter that also provides transitional residential services to children and young adults who are in need due to abuse, neglect or homelessness. The event takes place from 6:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. and costs $20 for children and $25 for adults. The cost includes two games of bowling, bowling shoes, admission cost and a small donation to City House. There will be two times slots to sign up for bowling, 7 p.m. or 9 p.m. Families with four or more members pay the child’s rate per person to play.
