Plano nonprofit organization My Possibilities will host its second annual Revealing Possibilities Showcase from 6-9 p.m. June 24 at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 H Ave. The event will begin with an art exhibition in the atrium of the theater where creations by My Possibilities' HIPsters, or Highly Important People, will be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the sale will go to support My Possibilities art and music therapy programs.

Started in 2008, My Possibilities provides educational and vocational training as well as therapy services for adults with cognitive disabilities, such as autism, down syndrome and cerebral palsy. Other events to take place at the showcase include musical performances by the organization's HIPsters. Guests will also be treated to food catered by HIPsters who are enrolled in the nonprofit's culinary program. Guests will also have an opportunity to meet the people behind both the food and the artwork on display.

"The HIPsters love having the opportunity to show the world what they can do, so they look forward to the showcase tremendously," said Lauren McCormick, social media and marketing coordinator for My Possibilities. "They put a lot of hard work into practicing for their performances so it gives them great professional experience. HIPsters who aren't in the show also come to the event to support their friends, which is really cool to see as well."

Events like these enable My Possibilities to fund and carry out its special programs, said Charmaine Solomon, founder and chairman of the board for My Possibilities. State funding for families with special needs adults is lower in Texas than in any other state, she said.

"The support we receive from the community during our fundraising efforts helps us to continue providing cutting edge educational programs and services for a deserving population," Solomon said in a news release. "Our corporate sponsors, friends, neighbors and other concerned citizens in North Texas are the foundation of our program, and we deeply appreciate the ongoing support they so generously provide for our HIPsters."

Tickets are $25 per person. The Historic Downtown Plano Association is offering a 20 percent off discount by using the promo code HDPA. Tickets can be purchased at www.mypossibilities.org.
