Work crews are currently performing concrete repairs along a portion of Shiloh Road, according to the Plano’s current construction map.

Repair work, which is expected to be completed later this fall, began in mid-October on Shiloh between Plano Parkway and East Renner Road.

Steve Stoler, Plano’s director of media relations, said in an email that the city identified multiple places along the road where the pavement was failing, which needed to be addressed.

What you need to know

The estimated cost for the project is $250,000, but it is part of a larger up-to-two-year arterial repair contract, which also includes a potential two-year extension. The initial term for the contract is worth the expenditure of over $2.7 million or the duration of two years, whichever comes first, Stoler said.

To allow for the repairs, one lane going each direction will be closed at all times, while two lanes each direction will be closed between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily, per the city’s project map.

Abby Owens, Plano’s public works director, said in an email that the contract allows work crews to move around areas of the city needing repairs as they come up. The contract is included as part of the city’s Community Investment Program.

Some context

Owens said the contract has included concrete repairs for sections of three other roadways in Plano, including:
  • Alma Drive
  • Custer Road
  • 15th Street
What’s next?

Contractors are expected to finish the concrete repairs by the end of November, weather permitting, Stoler said.
